Riverside Named One of America’s Best Cities for Global Trade

Global Trade magazine has released its 2014 selections for “America’s Best Cities for Global Trade.” Every year, the editors of the magazine compile the list to help companies strategically locate, grow and expand their operations. “With a new twist on this year's list, our editorial team identified 10 needs-based and relevant categories that globally minded companies refer to when choosing a new location”, according to Global Trade editor Patrick Dooley.

Each of the 10 categories in turn had 10 recipients for a total list size of 100 cities. “That may sound like a lot of cities, but when you consider that there are some 30,000 cities in the U.S., being named as a top 100 for global trade is pretty rarefied air,” added Dooley.

Riverside has been recognized specifically for the “Site Selection Assistance” category. Riverside’s Office of Economic Development connects prospective companies with a Business Liaison to serve as a point of contact during the site selection process, through permitting and final inspections. Our liaison compiles lists of potential sites for consideration, advises on zoning codes and provides feedback about additional permitting considerations. Riverside also employs a Technology Ombudsman to help tech companies looking to establish a presence in Riverside.  Learn about Riverside's Office of Economic Development and meet the team here.
