Office of Economic Development Hosts Commercial Real Estate Brokers in San Diego

The Office of Economic Development headed south on Thursday, May 29th to meet with San Diego area Commercial Real Estate Brokers and update them on exciting new developments and opportunities in Riverside.

The event began with an overview of the City of Riverside and our Economic Development initiatives as well as an overview of Riverside Public Utilities' rate advantages and incentives programs. Following these updates was a panel discussion with Ronaldo Fierro, owner of The Salted Pig gastropub and soon to open W. Wolfskill craft cocktail bar; Tom Pierik, Senior Vice President, Lee & Associates Riverside office; and Cliff Ratkovich, President of Ratkovich Properties. The panel covered a wide range of topics including the experiences as a business owner opening a new business and operating in the City of Riverside, the current conditions and predictions for the future of the Riverside Commercial Real Estate Market, and an overview of the Ratkovich Properties mixed use development proposal for the historic Imperial Hardware building in downtown Riverside.

When asked why he decided to take on a mixed use urban housing development in downtown Riverside, Cliff Ratkovich commented that "We were just amazed at what we saw" when he toured downtown with Al Zelinka, Community Development Director for the City of Riverside. The panel discussion gave an exclusive look into the potential for investment in Riverside and piqued the interest of many of the attendees who commented on the exciting prospects they previously were not aware existed in Riverside.

Commercial Real Estate outreach is part of the Office of Economic Development's Action Plan and the San Diego event was the second in a series of events also held in Orange County.
