At age 15, Malcolm Smith started his first job sweeping floors at Mott’s Cycles in San Bernardino, CA. Swept off his feet by a love for motorcycles, Smith would later become a motorsports legend. Throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s, Smith travelled the world collecting gold medals doing what he loved, racing. Six time winner of the Baja 1000, four time winner of the Baja 500, and eight time gold medalist of the International Six Day Trial to name a few, Smith was inducted into the Off-road Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1978, the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 1996 and the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1998.

Following years of championship racing exploits on both two and four wheels, Malcolm purchased his hometown dealership and in 1966, Malcolm Smith Motorsports was born. Nearly four decades later, Malcolm moved his business into a brand-new 70,000 square-foot super-store here in Riverside. The result was a dealership experience that set the standard for all other destination motorsports dealerships. Malcolm Smith Motorsports carries everything to quench the thirst of thrill seekers, with 13 brands of motorcycles, watercrafts, recreational vehicles, plus the gear to ride safe in style. From humble beginnings as a one-room motorcycle shop to winning DealerNews' 2009 "Dealer of the Year" award, Malcolm Smith Motorsports has become the most storied motorsports dealership in the world.

Owned and operated by Malcolm himself, a lifetime of passion for motorcycles and racing heritage has created a dealership unlike any other.

According to Malcolm Smith Motorsports General Manager, Alexander Smith, “The buying experience is different here. It is a very friendly and family oriented atmosphere.”

With a healthy resume of medals and a role alongside Steve Mcqueen in the documentary, On Any Sunday, Smith has taken his passion to the next level; philanthropy. Established in 1998, Malcolm Smith Motorsports Foundation is a motorsports community based organization, fully committed to giving back to the future leaders of Baja, the children.

The foundation provides the children at El Oasis Orphanage in Baja California, Mexico the opportunity to follow their dreams through a fully funded education of their choice. Malcolm Smith Motorsports Foundation is a fully volunteer organization with no paid staff. Facilities, utilities and most costs are donated by Malcolm Smith Motorsports, ensuring all dollars are used for the children. Through their dedication and commitment, the Malcolm Smith Motorsports Foundation has been able to help fund projects including water systems for both potable and agricultural water, electricity, irrigation and over 400 tree and playgrounds. They provide medical assistance, and fully funded education for every child; tuition, books, uniforms, travel and room and board where applicable.
