Hundreds Attend Manufacturing Day Events
Manufacturing Day exploded into an entire weekend of fun, creativity, inspiration, and activities in Riverside. The Mini Maker Faire, hosted by Vocademy, drew in large crowds of all ages to learn about science and technology in a way that was unlike any classroom setting. One of the more popular attractions was the famous 17ft tall electric giraffe named “Rave Raffe”. With an impressive audio and LED lighting system, Rave Raffe grabbed a lot of attention strolling around the faire, showing off all his robotic features. The human foosball table was a popular addition as well, giving the spectators an opportunity to jump in the life-size working foosball table and actually play. The Mini Maker Faire was a great opportunity to promote science and technology in a relatable manner and give innovative individuals an outlet to share their creations with the community.
In addition to Vocademy’s Mini Maker Faire, other manufacturing events were hosted throughout Riverside over the weekend, including a grand opening celebration for Riverside’s newest manufacturing company, Aleph Group Inc. AGI manufactures state of the art specialty vehicles, enabling businesses, agencies, and other organizations to expand their borders and impact the community in a positive way. AGI hosted a tour of their facility, walking guests, which included students from King High School’s Engineering Program, Project Lead the Way, through the entire process of crafting the custom vehicles they create: from blood bank buses to mobile mammogram units and dentistry clinics.
