Entrepreneurship Never Tasted so Sweet
Hannah Kammerer is a 16 year old aspiring baker. Currently operating from home and selling her baked goods primarily online, Hannah Rene’s Cupcakery has a full online menu of delicious cupcakes and treats. After only 3 months in operation, Hannah is in the process of supplying a cake supply store and a Downtown restaurant .
In Riverside, the Office of Economic Development helps businesses create jobs for our community. We are dedicated to offering guidance and resources so that inspired entrepreneurs like Hannah can make their business dreams become reality. Hannah’s vision and drive at such a young age are nothing short of remarkable. It is not uncommon for our Business Liaisons to meet local entrepreneurs that have her incredible sense of motivation and passion. But getting a business off of the ground can be a daunting task if you don’t quite know where to start.
“Cooking and baking mean so much to me and it's all I've ever wanted to do since I was a little girl. Half of my earnings go toward my college education because even though I don't need to learn how to cook, I still need to learn how to run a business,” says Hannah.
Women entrepreneurs are on the rise. According to Fox Business, there are more than 9.1 million women-owned businesses operating in 2014 with a staggering 68% rate of increase since 1997. That is inspirational. Although Hannah’s primary focus right now is graduating high school and attaining a college education; when she is ready to grow her business, The Office of Economic Development will be here to offer support. From educational and financing resources, to site selection and permitting assistance, we want Hannah to have the tools necessary to succeed. One day soon she may open her own Cupcakery Shop in the City of Riverside.
